EU commits €1.07bn to new defence projects under EDF

The European Fee has authorised a significant new spherical of funding for European defence tasks, allocating €1.07bn to 57 initiatives below the European Defence Fund (EDF).

The funding follows the analysis of the 2025 EDF calls and is meant to bolster the EU’s long-term defence technique whereas accelerating technological improvement throughout the bloc.

The EDF continues to prioritise inclusivity throughout the European defence ecosystem, significantly by encouraging participation from smaller companies.

A number of tasks targeted on scalable drone applied sciences will introduce sub-calls aimed toward start-ups and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
