American maritime expertise firm Mythos AI has accomplished the set up of its Superior Pilot Help System (APAS) aboard the vessel CB Pacific, a chemical cargo ship owned by CB Tankers.

The APAS venture is designed to handle navigation at sea. Not like most conventional programs on this house that rely largely on machine imaginative and prescient, APAS makes use of a radar-first method, together with different sensing applied sciences. It connects on to a ship’s radar and streamlines knowledge so it may be used to alert a ship’s human crew if crucial throughout a journey. APAS is designed to help mariners, scale back cognitive load, and enhance situational consciousness, but preserve human judgement on the centre of navigation.

Geoff Douglass, CEO of Mythos AI, stated, “Our aim isn’t to exchange the crew. It’s to equip them with next-generation capabilities. By integrating our proprietary radar notion, machine imaginative and prescient, and clever alerting with the vessel’s dynamics, APAS transforms advanced conditions into clear, actionable selections, enhancing security and operational resilience.”

The CB Pacific was chosen for testing because of its predictable routes and dependable Furuno radar. The trial follows the primary set up of APAS on a Southern Devall towboat on the Mississippi River in August 2025, and will probably be a year-long experiment aiming to introduce next-gen bridge intelligence to industrial transport.

“Partnering with lomarlabs and CB Tankers permits APAS to seize and retain the experience of grasp mariners and the navigational norms of ports worldwide […] We’re validating efficiency at scale and laying the groundwork for broader fleet-wide adoption,” Douglass stated.

The APAS system’s year-long trial will assist guarantee it capabilities safely and successfully in real-world circumstances, and can verify it could comply with worldwide laws compliant with the COLREG (Convention on the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea).

CB Tankers is a part of the Lomar group of firms. Managing director of lomarlabs, Stylianos Papageorgiou, stated progress in maritime AI solely comes from operational testing. “Actual innovation doesn’t occur in pitch decks. It occurs in real-time operations, port calls, dry docks, and sea trials.”

With elevated curiosity from the defence sector, the APAS venture represents a step towards adoption of AI-driven navigation programs in industrial and strategic maritime operations.
