World-leading energy experts have been confirmed among the list of speakers for Data Center World 2024, the data center industry’s premier global conference and expo.

DCW 2024 takes place on April 15-18 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC. The event will feature more than 200 exhibitors, 60 conference sessions, and a host of other training and networking opportunities for over 2,000 expected attendees.

The 2024 conference agenda has been divided into four tracks covering some of the most important issues impacting the data center industry:

  • Emerging IT and Data Center Technologies
  • Design, Build, Operate, Control
  • Colocation, Hyperscale and Cloud Innovation
  • Sustainability Strategies, from Power to Recycling

Among the confirmed speakers for next year is Arman Shehabi, Energy and Environmental Policy Staff Scientist at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, who will present the initial findings of the not-yet-released 2024 Report to Congress on US Data Center Energy Use.

Sustainability and data center energy efficiency will take center stage at DCW 2024, with Peter de Bock of the Department of Energy taking a deep dive into the ARPA-E COOLERCHIPS project, and other sessions exploring nuclear energy integration and lowering emissions via microgrids.

Several sessions delve into emerging technologies and innovations. Topics cover automating the data lifecycle for AI, integrating AI into digital infrastructure, next-gen optical tech, and the future of data center technologies, including discussions on the potential limitations of air cooling.

Other presentations will focus on the operational aspects of data centers, such as data lifecycle management, incident handling, supply chain integration, skills development, and leadership workshops.

Importantly, several sessions concentrate on attracting talent to the data center industry, focusing on education, internships, and upskilling, while also highlighting the importance of women in the data center workforce.

Technology and Innovation

“We are thrilled to bring the event to Washington DC this year, into the heart of the largest data center market in the world,” said DCW Event Director Tara Gibb. “The 2024 program will include 60 sessions curated by our distinguished Content Advisory Board across four high-density days of inspiration and learning.

“We invite the community to make new connections on the ever-growing expo floor, hear in-depth vendor-neutral case studies and trend briefings, receive a new professional certification, and experience our powerhouse keynote speakers (who we can’t wait to announce).”

Discussing the DCW 2024 lineup, Conference Program Chair Bill Kleyman said: “We’ve worked hard to reflect on the critical transformation we are seeing in the industry today. At Data Center World 2024, you’ll hear discussions on AI, data center design, sustainability, and strategies to impact a quickly emerging new market. I hope you’re as excited as I am!”

He added: “Attendees will learn about all-new, yet-to-be-published energy reports to Congress, new solutions around power design, how to modernize facilities to support high-density compute, and how we should re-think the economics of the modern data center. At DCW24, you will feel the pulse of the industry throughout all of our sessions, along with inspiration, education, and connection.”

Connecting the Industry

With 200 confirmed exhibitors and more than 2,000 delegates expected to attend, DCW has become a leading event in the global data center industry calendar.

In addition to the action on the show floor, Data Center World 2024 will include the Omdia Analyst Summit on April 15 and Data Center Build (April 17-18). Pre-conference training on April 14 will allow participants to obtain the Certified Data Center Professional (CDCP) certification.

Sharing his thoughts on the 2023 edition of DCW, Toby Stapleton, vice president of NTT Global Data Centers, said: “The conference exuberated a genuine sense of community and camaraderie, despite the large numbers of attendees everyone seemed approachable and eager to engage in meaningful conversations.”

DCN, which is aligned with DCW and AFCOM through its parent company, Informa Tech, will have a strong presence at the show. Our editors will be onsite throughout the event, conducting interviews and eager to chat with industry pros who visit the news desk.

Finally, the data center community loves to network and have a good time, and the 2024 Data Center World Conference Party will be no exception. The event, which is open to all attendees, takes place on April 17 from 7 pm to 10 pm.
