Sensors reminiscent of these could be hooked up to pallets to trace its location, says Srivastava. “Folks in Europe are very acutely aware about the place their meals is coming from and, to adjust to rules, corporations must have sensors on the pallets,” he says. “Or they may must know that meat has been transported at correct temperatures.” The sensible tags can simply be slapped on pallets, he says. “It is a very low cost method to do that, even with tens of millions of pallets transferring round,” he says.
The problem, Srivastava says, is that when the units are transferring from vehicles to logistics hubs, to warehouses, and to retail shops, “they want to hook up with totally different applied sciences.”
