Sustainable energy for data centres: Inspired’s CPPA with VIRTUS and LID windfarms

Impressed, the UK’s main business power and sustainability advisory agency, has clinched a historic tri-party company energy buy settlement (CPPA) with VIRTUS Information Centres and Lynn and Internal Dowsing (LID) windfarms. This marks a big milestone in advancing VIRTUS Information Centres’ sustainability goals.

As a part of the settlement, VIRTUS has subscribed to an influence buy settlement amounting to 31MW, equal to 16% of the overall output from LID offshore windfarms. This association commences on 1st October 2025, making certain a constant provide of renewable power.

A CPPA is a long-term power contract between a company entity and a renewable power generator. These agreements are gaining favour as they permit companies to realize net-zero targets with as much as 100% renewable energy. The power might be traced again to a selected challenge, like wind or photo voltaic farms, assures a greener, sustainable operation.

Impressed has been instrumental as VIRTUS’ power guide, enabling the profitable embarking on this new sustainable journey. Their partnership ensures that VIRTUS continues to harness renewable energy immediately for its knowledge centres.

Helen Kinsman, SVP Industrial and Regulatory Affairs at VIRTUS, mentioned: “As an power intensive person, we all know it’s our duty to minimise the environmental impression from all our knowledge centre amenities. Therefore, since… 2011, we’ve been procuring energy from 100% renewable sources.”

The renewable energy will likely be sourced from Lynn and Internal Dowsing (LID) offshore windfarms, managed by funds from Macquarie Asset Administration, and backed by XceCo Ltd, a specialist in managing renewable power tasks.

Bailey Bradley, Managing Director of XceCo, praises the collaborative efforts that introduced this CPPA to fruition, underscoring the synergy generated from a shared imaginative and prescient and dedication.

Along with this landmark settlement, Impressed gives a set of providers to VIRTUS, perpetually enhancing their position as a devoted power guide.
