Infineon Applied sciences AG has introduced an enlargement in its collaboration with Delta Electronics to develop superior high-density energy modules. These modules goal to remodel vertical energy supply (VPD) to AI processors in hyperscale information centres.

The partnership utilises Infineon’s ultra-thin silicon chip expertise alongside Delta’s pioneering energy module design, creating ultra-efficient modules. This collaboration considerably cuts carbon emissions, with projected financial savings of 150 tons of CO2 per rack over a three-year lifetime. To place this in perspective, such financial savings are akin to the annual emissions of 4,000 households.

“Our collaboration has resulted within the improvement of extremely superior VPD modules, which permits us to supply unparalleled energy effectivity, reliability, and scalability for our prospects,” stated Ares Chen, Delta’s Vice President and Normal Supervisor of its Energy and System Enterprise Group. “We’re proud to be enjoying a key function in fostering vitality conservation within the hyperscale information centre energy infrastructure ecosystem, and look ahead to realising important contribution for your entire trade by our joint innovation.”

Delta harnesses Infineon’s 90 A OptiMOS™ power-stage answer, propelling VPD modules to new heights. Vertical energy supply transforms the facility supply community, additional enabling the system to attain elevated effectivity by conserving house and producing much less warmth.

As AI applied sciences progress, the demand on information centres is quickly escalating. Energy supply options should rise to the event, supporting burgeoning AI coaching calls for while adapting to tightly-packed xPUs, which push IT rack densities additional.

Infineon and Delta are trailblazing next-generation energy options, concentrating on future-proof programs able to 1 MW per rack supply. This forward-thinking method embraces innovation, marking a pivotal level for AI information centres striving for efficiency allied with sustainability.

On prime of its various choices in GaN and SiC options, Infineon continues to steer globally in silicon MOSFETs. These facilitate top-tier efficiency, providing system options that optimise effectivity, energy density, and value administration, paving the best way for the way forward for sustainable energy supply.
