Formlabs, a Somerville, MA-based firm which makes a speciality of 3D printing, acquired Micronics, a Wisconsin-based 3D printing firm.

The quantity of the deal was not disclosed.

With the acquisition, the Micronics founders and staff will be part of Formlabs within the firm’s shared mission to make SLS 3D printing accessible for product designers, engineers, innovators, and different makers all over the world. 

Led by CEO Henry Chan, Micronics introduced its first desktop SLS 3D printer, Micron, on Kickstarter in June 2024. The printer is designed to ship SLS 3D printing know-how in a compact kind issue for detailed prototypes and sturdy end-use merchandise. Following the shut of the acquisition, Micronics Kickstarter backers shall be refunded and obtain a credit score for any Formlabs 3D printer to be used now or sooner or later.
