Dell Applied sciences has introduced the launch of the PowerEdge XR9700, a server designed for deployment in outside environments. With its liquid-cooled, absolutely enclosed structure, the server helps operations comparable to Cloud RAN and edge AI workloads. It may be mounted on utility poles, rooftops, or constructing sides, making it appropriate for dense city areas, distant areas, and space-constrained websites the place normal information centre infrastructure can’t be used.

Deploying computing assets immediately on-site is usually difficult for telecom operators as a consequence of area and energy limitations. The PowerEdge XR9700 goals to offer computing capability on the level of want inside a compact, IP66-rated enclosure, defending the system from exterior components. The server helps Cloud RAN and Open RAN processing at cell websites whereas operating AI purposes the place information is generated and consumed.

The server’s IP66-rated casing and GR-3108 Class 4 certification allow it to keep up constant, quiet efficiency in environments with excessive temperatures, mud, or moisture. Its closed-loop liquid cooling and thermal administration system enable operation throughout a temperature vary of -40°C to 46°C (-40°F to 115°F), together with direct photo voltaic publicity. The 15-litre kind issue is appropriate for set up on poles and rooftops, permitting telecom and edge workloads in areas that had been beforehand accessible solely to conventional radio options.

The PowerEdge XR9700 makes use of the Intel Xeon D-SOC with built-in Intel vRAN Increase and Intel AMX know-how, offering the processing energy and fronthaul connectivity to help as much as 15 5G sectors per server. Whereas optimised for Cloud RAN, the server may help edge and AI workloads in accordance with community structure and repair necessities.

As a part of the Dell PowerEdge XR-Sequence, the XR9700 integrates with Dell’s administration instruments and software program stack. The iDRAC characteristic offers distant entry for zero-touch provisioning (ZTP), and compatibility with beforehand validated Cloud RAN software program aligns with the PowerEdge XR8720t, supporting environment friendly telecom deployment.
