With the surge in world power consumption, particularly by knowledge centres, the demand for dependable and low-emission backup energy is rising exponentially. Volvo Penta goals to handle this want with its new G17 pure fuel engine, designed to supply dependability and scalability for high-growth sectors.

The G17 engine, complementing Volvo Penta’s D17 gen-set engine, marks an development in delivering gasoline flexibility and scalable efficiency. It offers a pathway towards lower-emission power options, supported by Volvo’s world service community.

Constructed on the acclaimed D17 platform, the G17 is a 17-litre, 6-cylinder engine that operates on each standard and renewable pure fuel. This functionality aids in decreasing prospects’ carbon footprints whereas preserving efficiency reliability.

The engine’s potential to utilise each pipeline-quality pure fuel and renewable fuel seeks to supply a viable different to diesel for functions the place uptime and environmental efficiency are essential. Its versatile design allows integration with present infrastructure, simplifying set up and negating further fuel-conditioning methods.

Engineered to ship round 450 kWe at 1800 rpm, the G17 offers energy output from a compact footprint. This helps in chopping set up area and decreasing materials prices. Moreover, optimised load acceptance assures reliable efficiency throughout peak demand intervals and grid transitions.

The G17 is designed to fulfill emission requirements with lowered NOₓ and particulate matter emissions. It options combustion controls, low-pressure Exhaust Gasoline Recirculation, and a high-efficiency catalyst, ideally suiting it for operations underneath strict environmental laws.

Its compact, scalable design fits space-constrained environments similar to knowledge centres. The engine could be integrated into broader power methods with renewable fuels and battery methods, offering adaptable options for altering operational wants.
