With the opening of a new manufacturing facility in Chakan, Pune, worldwide supplier of vital digital infrastructure and continuity solutions, Vertiv, has increased the size of its manufacturing presence in India. This action is a reaction to the region’s growing need for data centers and associated infrastructure solutions.

Vertiv’s commitment to the Indian and global markets is further cemented with the addition of the new facility to its current factories in Ambernath and Pune.

The Pune manufacturing facility, which occupies 210,000 square feet (19,510 square meters), is set up to produce a broad variety of thermal management products and systems. These are made especially for a variety of uses, such as telecom, data centers, and the commercial and industrial sectors. With a manufacturing capacity ranging from 200W to over 2MW, the facility produces a wide variety of products, including air handling units (AHU), adiabatic free cooling chillers, thermal wall units, and innovative cooling systems including wall mount, rack, and in-row cooling units.

The CEO of Vertiv, Giordano (Gio) Albertazzi, emphasized the new manufacturing facility’s strategic significance in light of the quick uptake of AI-related technology.

The manufacturing facility is renowned for its advanced psychometric laboratories, which are devoted to performance assessment, in addition to its production capabilities. Its prominence is further enhanced by a customer experience center and sophisticated design support capabilities. The facility is situated in a park complying with the India Green Building Council (IGBC), underlining Vertiv’s commitment on sustainability and environmental responsibility.

The CEO of Vertiv, Giordano (Gio) Albertazzi, emphasized the new facility’s strategic significance in light of the world’s growing digitization and the quick uptake of AI-related technology. “The demand for increased capacity in both thermal and electricity infrastructure is driving the fast expansion of the data center sector. The growing significance of India as a major data center hub in the Asia-Pacific area played a significant impact in our choice to locate our third manufacturing facility there. This growth further demonstrates our dedication to assisting India’s data center industry and meeting demand worldwide.”

A JLL analysis highlights the strong growth trajectory of the Indian data center business. It is anticipated that the data center industry in India would see a significant growth of 678 MW over the following three years, increasing its capacity to 1400 MW by 2025. India now ranks as the world’s thirteenth-largest data center market because to its expansion. In addition, 45 additional data centers totaling 13 million square feet and 1,015 MW of combined capacity are planned for building by 2025, according to India Briefing. By 2027, this growth is expected to push the industry’s capitalization to $9.27 billion.

The Managing Director of Vertiv India, Subhasis Majumdar, underlined the new manufacturing facility’s strategic importance. “Both local and foreign businesses are making large investments in India’s data center industry. Our state-of-the-art facility will increase our capacity for thermal control, expedite delivery, and strengthen our ability to provide large-scale, tailored solutions. To guarantee optimum performance and reliability, Vertiv is coordinating its solutions with India’s distinct environmental and infrastructure constraints. This facility demonstrates our commitment to the nation’s manufacturing industry and is in line with our support of the Made in India program.”

In summary, Vertiv‘s new manufacturing facility in Pune is not just an expansion of its operational capacity but a strategic move to meet the growing demands and needs of the data center industry in India and beyond. With the digital landscape evolving rapidly, Vertiv’s investment in this new plant could be timely and crucial. It inevitably represents an important step toward meeting the growing demands for thermal management systems and data center infrastructure, which are essential to the effective and seamless functioning of contemporary data centers.
