Verne is partnering with Neste, the world’s main supplier of renewable diesel and sustainable aviation gasoline (SAF), to energy back-up turbines at its Finnish information facilities in Helsinki, Pori, and Tampere. By switching to Neste MY Renewable Diesel™, Verne expects to cut back back-up generator greenhouse fuel emissions by a mean of 90 per cent over the lifecycle of the gasoline when in comparison with fossil diesel1. This initiative is a part of the corporate’s dedication to minimise the environmental influence of its personal information heart operations and to make it simpler for patrons to fulfill their sustainability objectives.

Neste’s renewable diesel is a Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) constituted of 100 per cent renewable uncooked supplies, reminiscent of animal fats from meals trade waste, used cooking oil, and varied waste and residues from vegetable oil manufacturing. With an analogous chemical composition to fossil diesel, Verne is ready to make the swap to renewable diesel with none modifications to its infrastructure.

Essential for Verne’s Finnish operations, renewable diesel can also be better-suited to very chilly climate circumstances than fossil diesel. It may be saved in temperatures as little as -32°C with higher start-up and throttle response. Importantly for back-up energy – which is simply required throughout outages to main energy sources – it can be saved over lengthy durations of time with out deterioration in high quality or water accumulation.

“Verne’s mission is to supply information heart companies that don’t price the earth and this swap to renewable diesel is a key milestone for the corporate and our clients, because it means we can eradicate fossil fuels from our operations in Finland,” mentioned Kim Gunnelius, Head of Finland at Verne. “Whereas our back-up turbines are solely deployed within the occasion of an prolonged energy failure – which is fortunately extraordinarily uncommon as a consequence of Finland’s extremely dependable grid – they’re examined often, so it will be important we minimise the influence they’ve on the atmosphere. In addition to serving to us cut back GHG emissions, Neste’s renewable diesel works very successfully at chilly temperatures so is the perfect answer for our Finnish operations.”
