A fundamental driver for funding is enhancing effectivity adopted by rising automation. Companies are investing in industrial networking to guard and preserve dispersed substations, distribution grids and distributed vitality assets. 

At the moment, a scarcity of collaboration with IT is hampering the optimization of business infrastructure, Cisco mentioned. For instance, 43% of utility companies use insights generated by OT information to enhance vitality administration and 48% count on AI to make industrial networking extra dependable and safe. A 3rd plans to put money into AI-enabled units and cloud computing. 

Nonetheless, cybersecurity dangers had been seen as the highest exterior (43%) and inside (34%) obstacles to progress. Utilities reported that the first advantage of IT/OT collaboration is healthier cybersecurity, which is a high spending precedence for nearly half (48%) of utility companies over the subsequent two years, adopted by compliance with regulatory requirements.
