UK and Qatar launch project to boost AI collaboration

The UK and Qatar have launched a joint Synthetic Intelligence analysis fee, in search of to determine a roadmap for UK-Qatar AI collaboration that may profit each nations.

The joint research shall be led by Queen Mary College of London in partnership with Hamad bin Khalifa College (HBKU) in Qatar.

Professor David Leslie, Professor of Ethics, Expertise, and Society at Queen Mary College of London’s Digital Atmosphere Analysis Institute and Director of Ethics and Accountable Innovation Analysis on the Alan Turing Institute, is main the research.

Key AI insurance policies within the UK and Qatar

Each the UK and Qatar have developed methods and frameworks to control using AI, specializing in selling innovation, guaranteeing moral use, and addressing societal impacts.

Enhancing world collaboration

The challenge has been designed and developed as a collaboration on AI between Qatar’s Ministry of Overseas Affairs, the AI Committee of the Qatar Ministry of Communications & Info Expertise (MCIT), Qatar Analysis, Improvement and Innovation Council (QRDI), and the British Embassy in Doha.

The announcement of the collaboration coincides with the State Go to of the Amir of Qatar to the UK.

The challenge is funded by the UK Authorities’s Gulf Technique Fund, a part of the Overseas, Commonwealth and Improvement Workplace’s (FCDO) Worldwide Programme.

Neerav Patel, British Ambassador to Qatar, stated: “The UK and Qatar have proven themselves to be innovators within the coverage implementation of AI, together with the necessity to construct robust programs of ethics and governance.

“I’m delighted that such prestigious UK and Qatari establishments are concerned on this essential initiative. It displays each nations’ need to reinforce AI collaboration and deal with the shared challenges it can carry.”

Dr Mariam Khalid Al-Hamar, Minister Plenipotentiary on the Ministry of Overseas Affairs in Qatar, added: “As a world chief in dialogue and mediation, Qatar recognises the very important significance of collaboration in selling diplomacy and resolving conflicts.

“By leveraging the transformative potential of AI, we’ve got the chance to make significant progress in peacebuilding, enhance decision-making processes, and deal with advanced world points with larger accuracy.”

She continued: “Moreover, embracing the thought of ‘AI for All’ ensures that the advantages of this know-how attain each nation, empowering them to actively have interaction within the AI period.
