The FBI says Russian emails are sending fake bomb threats to polling stations

The Federal Bureau of Investigation has issued a warning that pretend bomb threats are being emailed to US polling places in a number of states that “seem to originate from Russian electronic mail domains.”

“Not one of the threats have been decided to be credible to date,” the FBI says. The company says it’s working intently with state and native legislation enforcement to answer any election threats and urges the general public to “stay vigilant” and report suspicious exercise to state and native authorities.

Faux bomb threats had been despatched to polling places in Georgia, Michigan, and Wisconsin, prompting “at the least two” websites in Fulton County, Georgia, to be evacuated on Tuesday, in accordance with Reuters. Officers mentioned each places had been “re-opened after about half-hour,” the outlet stories. The county has requested for “a court docket order to increase the situation’s voting hours” to after 7PM ET, the state’s deadline for voting.

The threats seem like half of a bigger marketing campaign to sow doubt and chaos within the US election.
