Supercomputing websites in Germany, Japan, and Poland plan to combine Nvidia’s open supply platform to combine and program quantum and classical processors as a single system.

The facilities have already got high-performance computing techniques that use Nvidia CPUs and GPUs. The CUDA-Q platform would allow them to work in a hybrid surroundings with quantum processing models (QPUs).

The Jülich Supercomputing Heart (JSC) at Forschungszentrum Jülich in Germany is integrating an IQM Quantum Computer systems QPU with its Jupiter supercomputer. Jupiter makes use of the Nvidia GH200 Grace Hopper Superchip, which mixes GPU and CPU performance.

JSC researchers plan to make use of the QPU to develop quantum purposes for chemical simulations and optimization issues, and to reveal how classical supercomputers might be accelerated by quantum computer systems.

The ABCI-Q supercomputer on the Nationwide Institute of Superior Industrial Science and Know-how (AIST) in Japan additionally makes use of Hopper structure and is incorporating a QPU from QuEra. It goals to allow researchers to research quantum purposes in AI, vitality and biology.

“Japan’s researchers will make progress towards sensible quantum computing purposes with the ABCI-Q quantum-classical accelerated supercomputer. Nvidia helps these pioneers push the boundaries of quantum computing analysis,” stated G-QuAT/AIST deputy director Masahiro Horibe.

Poland’s Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Heart (PSNC) not too long ago related two Orca Computing photonic QPUs to a brand new supercomputer partition accelerated by Hopper.

“This collaboration heralds a brand new period of computational innovation in quantum computing. Aligning Orca with like-minded companions in quantum will unlock unprecedented capabilities in fixing complicated real-world issues throughout numerous disciplines, now and into the longer term,” stated Orca Computing co-founder and CEO Richard Murray.

Nvidia director of quantum and HPC Tim Costa stated that the tight integration of quantum with GPU supercomputing will allow “helpful” quantum computing.

“Nvidia’s quantum computing platform equips pioneers resembling AIST, JSC, and PSNC to push the boundaries of scientific discovery and advance the state-of-the-art in quantum-integrated supercomputing,” Costa added.
