Seagate commits to £115m R&D investment in Northern Ireland

Seagate has introduced a £115 million funding to speed up nano-photonic analysis and growth at its Derry/Londonderry website, with £100 million coming from the corporate itself and £15 million in assist from Make investments NI. 

The five-year funding programme is geared in the direction of advancing the corporate’s onerous drive know-how to fulfill hovering international information storage demand pushed by hyperscale information centres and AI workloads. The corporate says the funding will underpin state-of-the-art R&D and manufacturing exercise in Northern Eire, with the mission anticipated to create extremely expert roles and enhance native supply-chain exercise.
