The safe entry service edge (SASE) market broke the $8 billion (£6.27bn) income barrier in 2023, in response to Dell’Oro Group – a marker the business analyst has described as a ‘important milestone.’
The sector topped out at $8.4bn for 2023, at a 31% progress fee. From that total income marker, the SSE (safe service edge) phase of the SASE market was at greater than $4bn, with the SD-WAN phase surpassing $3bn, though at a slower progress fee than the earlier yr of 28%.
SASE is defined as a ‘cloud structure mannequin that bundles collectively community and cloud-native safety applied sciences [to] ship them as a single cloud service’, and brings collectively varied safety and community applied sciences. To present one instance, Zscaler’s SASE offering is constructed on its SSE foundations, promising a ‘recent strategy to SD-WAN that securely and reliably connects customers, areas, and cloud companies’.
The six main SASE distributors – Zscaler, Cisco, Palo Alto Networks, Symantec/Broadcom, Fortinet and Netskope – accounted for nearly two thirds (65%) of market income. Dell’Oro Group notes that this signifies maturation and consolidation available in the market, as is the pattern of single-vendor SASE options transferring forward of multi-vendor choices.
In the end, what’s driving better SASE utilization is the rising necessity for safe cloud and distant work options. “As enterprises worldwide navigate the complexities of distant work and cloud integration, the choice for complete SASE options turns into extra pronounced,” stated Mauricio Sanchez, senior analysis director, enterprise networking and safety at Dell’Oro Group.
“The market progress in 2023 highlights the significance of SASE in fashionable cybersecurity methods and displays the business’s confidence in these platforms to supply sturdy, scalable safety,” added Sanchez.
