Robotic Collaboration Launched for Maintenance in Chip Production

Lam Analysis, the $100 billion firm that produces semiconductor manufacturing gear, launched what it known as the trade’s first collaborative robotic, or ‘cobot’, made to deal with upkeep on wafer-fabrication gear.

The cobot, appropriately named Dextro, can carry out correct, high-precision upkeep work on Lam’s gear, which is deployed in semiconductor fabrication vegetation all over the world. 

As fabs proceed to develop, geographic vary and gear complexity to maintain up with the AI growth, Dextro’s function within the chip-manufacturing course of is vital, Lam stated, noting that the variety of positions within the semiconductor trade outpaces the present pool of expert engineers.

“With the big improve in demand that AI is bringing to the semiconductor market, it is vital for chipmakers to maintain all their manufacturing gear working as effectively as doable to attenuate downtime,” stated Bob O’Donnell, president of Technalysis Analysis.

“Dextro can automate tedious, time-consuming and infrequently intricate cleansing and upkeep duties on chip-fabrication gear in order that manufacturing output will be maximized. It presents an enormous profit for firms that select to deploy it.”
