Starline, a Legrand subsidiary, has introduced their M70 Critical Power Monitor (CPM) solution, the third iteration of their energy meter series, which represents a major technological development in energy monitoring. Especially for data centers and other energy-intensive businesses, the M70 CPM would represent a significant advancement in power monitoring.

The development of the M70 CPM, which began in earnest around 2020, is a response to the escalating demand for more sophisticated energy management tools. This need is particularly pronounced given the projections by the U.S. Energy Information Administration, which anticipates a global increase in electric power generating capacity of 55% to 108% by 2050. According to Starline, these numbers highlight how crucial effective and dependable power monitoring systems are in mission-critical areas like data centers and hospitals.

Starline, with over three decades of experience in providing flexible, reliable, and customizable power distribution systems, is no stranger to innovation. Starline’s M70 CPM offering builds on this legacy, offering a new approach to energy monitoring. It is designed to empower site managers with the ability to monitor energy consumption “in real-time, reliably and effortlessly.” The product’s versatility extends across various industries, promising to transform how energy consumption is managed in numerous verticals.

‘Speed, Robustness, Ease of Implementation’

The Starline M70 CPM product would stand out for its granularity in monitoring, capable of providing detailed data at various levels, including power feed, branch-circuit, or even stand-alone enclosures. It features a suite of advanced functionalities, including a pioneering temperature monitoring technology, audible alarms, and a pivoting display for enhanced floor-level visibility. The device also boasts an impressive array of communication protocols, making it one of the most comprehensive meters available today.

Notably, the M70 CPM has been refined for greater speed, robustness, and ease of implementation. These improvements aim to streamline the monitoring process and facilitate rapid deployment, aligning with the growing need for efficient energy management solutions in fast-paced, high-stakes environments.

John Berenbrok, Product Director at Starline, highlights the company’s dedication to innovation and customer-centric design, stating, “With the M70 CPM, we are demonstrating not only our commitment to listening to customers’ needs but also our desire to innovate through our products, with the aim of improving lives.” He further underscores the M70’s unique compatibility with track busway systems and its superior performance compared to other power monitors on the market, offering up to six current transformer inputs as opposed to the usual one or two.

The launch of the M70 CPM by Starline would reflect a broader industry trend towards more intelligent, efficient, and reliable power monitoring solutions, essential in an era where energy demands are rapidly escalating. As businesses continue to seek ways to optimize their energy usage, reduce costs, and ensure operational reliability, tools like the M70 CPM are poised to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of energy management in critical environments.
