OpenAI says Iran tried to influence US elections with ChatGPT

OpenAI has banned a string of ChatGPT accounts tied to an Iranian affect marketing campaign that generated and shared content material associated to the US presidential election, amongst different subjects. The operation primarily used ChatGPT to create longform articles and social media feedback for platforms like Instagram and X, based on OpenAI.

OpenAI linked the accounts to Storm-2035, a covert Iranian affect operation that has tried to have interaction US voters by launching web sites disguised as political information shops. Along with commentary concerning the US election on either side of the political spectrum, OpenAI says the operation generated content material concerning the Israel-Hamas struggle, Israel on the Olympic Video games, politics in Venezuela, and “the rights of Latinx communities” within the US.

OpenAI says that its investigation discovered the marketing campaign “doesn’t seem to have achieved significant viewers engagement.” The AI firm says most social media posts it tracked down acquired “few or no likes, shares, or feedback.” In Could, OpenAI and Meta introduced they’d disrupted a social media marketing campaign that used AI to submit pro-Israel messages on Instagram and Fb.
