Nokia launches Nokia Federal Solutions (NFS), a dedicated entity delivering secure solutions to the US federal government. Utilizing Nokia’s expertise and technology portfolio, Nokia says that NFS addresses the diverse missions of federal agencies.

NFS specializes in customized solutions for the US Federal Agencies, utilizing Nokia’s range of products, such as IP routing, optical networking, microwave, 5G, private wireless and tactical private wireless.

Mike Loomis, the president of Nokia Federal Solutions, notes that the US government faces communication challenges in today’s interconnected world.

“With Nokia Federal Solutions, we are strengthening our commitment to support the U.S. Government by investing in a dedicated entity to provide the technology, expertise, and local presence needed to help US federal agencies achieve their mission goals,” adds Loomis.

NFS is a team of professionals with skills in commercial communications technology and an understanding of the US government’s requirements. The acquisition of Fenix Group, Inc., a provider of secure tactical private wireless solutions for defense, strengthens the initiative, Nokia notes.

According to Tommi Uitto, Nokia’s president of Mobile Networks, the establishment of Nokia Federal Solutions marks a significant milestone in the growth of the company’s defense business.

“I look forward to seeing our high-performance and reliable communications solutions support the U.S. government and U.S. federal agencies to help them achieve their goals,” says Uitto.

In October, Nokia partnered with Kingston Freeport Terminal Limited (KFTL)  to launch the inaugural private wireless network at its container terminal in Jamaica. The network, implemented by Nokia Channel Partner EGC International, is a significant milestone in improving connectivity and efficiency at the terminal.

The companies say this implementation will enhance KFTL’s ability to cater to modern logistical demands, bolster safety procedures and improve overall productivity via wireless connectivity at port yards and docks. The news was announced during the meeting in Panama.
