Nokia and Elisa have launched Europe’s first industrial 5G Cloud RAN deployment utilizing Crimson Hat OpenShift. The deployment passed off in Espoo, Finland, following a profitable trial in October 2023.

Nokia’s Cloud RAN resolution permits for hybrid environments and helps the transition to full cloud-native networks. The deployment contains Nokia’s AirScale Large MIMO radios and AI-powered MantaRay community administration.

Elisa utilized Dell XR8620 servers and Crimson Hat OpenShift to boost cloud-native RAN capabilities. The Cloud RAN structure improves scalability and meets altering buyer wants by transferring computing energy nearer to the community edge.

“This profitable Cloud RAN deployment with Nokia is one other necessary step on our cloudification which began with cloudifying the community core and edge, and now contains the radio entry community,” says Kalle Lehtinen, Chief Know-how Officer, Elisa. “We proceed to pioneer new applied sciences in our journey in direction of autonomous operations serving to us to proceed innovating and delivering one of the best buyer expertise.”
