Matter Intelligence, a Los Angeles, CA-based distant sensing startup, raised $12M in Seed funding.
The spherical was led by Lowercarbon Capital, with participation from Toyota Ventures, Pear, Mark Cuban, and E2MC.
The corporate intends to make use of the funds to speed up the event of its sensing infrastructure.
Led by CEO Vishnu Sridhar, Matter Intelligence offers sensors that use hyperspectral imaging, a technique that captures hundreds of slender spectral bands of sunshine to tell apart distinctive materials properties. This enables it to detect and classify objects and supplies which might be invisible to conventional optical, radar, or multispectral sensors. Matter’s sensors, designed for deployment on satellites, drones, and plane, will provide the world’s first sub-meter hyperspectral and thermal satellite tv for pc functionality.
The startup’s first satellite tv for pc, EARTH-1, will create the primary world encyclopedia of Earth’s materials composition, imaging all the globe with greater than 500 instances the knowledge density of at present’s current sensors.
