Malaysia Taps Chinese Investors to Build More Data Centers

(Bloomberg) — Malaysia is in discussions with potential Chinese language traders to construct knowledge facilities within the Southeast Asian nation because it seeks to draw extra “high-quality” investments, in accordance with Financial system Minister Rafizi Ramli.

The federal government will strengthen its infrastructure providing to make the most of the synthetic intelligence increase, Rafizi mentioned in an interview with Bloomberg Tv’s Stephen Engle. 

US tech giants Microsoft Company, Google, and Nvidia Company had already introduced plans to construct knowledge facilities in Malaysia prior to now 12 months, and Chinese language corporations are eager about growing extra to serve the nation’s tech corporations that need to enter the Southeast Asian market, he mentioned. 

“We wish to expedite Malaysia’s transition from the back-end a part of the semiconductor business to the front-end,” with integrated-circuit design and knowledge facilities, Rafizi mentioned. 

The minister mentioned he had not held discussions with Chinese language corporations on utilizing their Malaysian operations as a base to bypass US tariffs.
