In a strategic move to enhance its foothold in the data center market, Legrand, a global leader in electrical and digital building infrastructures, has successfully completed the acquisition of ZPE Systems, a Fremont, California-based innovator in critical data center solutions. This acquisition marks a significant expansion for Legrand into the rapidly growing sector of data center and edge management infrastructure.
The acquisition will blend ZPE Systems’ expertise in secure and open management infrastructure with Legrand’s extensive array of data center solutions. Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed.
ZPE Systems is a well-known company that specializes in resilience and security for business-critical infrastructures. Some of its notable products include service routers, sensors, and serial console servers. These technologies are essential for facilitating remote control and access to network IT infrastructure, including edge environments and data centers.
An impressive presence in the data center solutions market is anticipated as a result of the combination of ZPE’s technology with Legrand’s extensive line of data center products, which includes overhead busway, custom cabinets, intelligent PDUs, KVM switches, and sophisticated fiber solutions.
ZPE Systems will function as a business unit inside Legrand’s Data, Power, and Control (DPC) Division in accordance with the conditions of the acquisition. As Vice President and General Manager, co-founder Arnaldo Zimmermann will remain in charge of ZPE Systems and will report directly to Brian DiBella, President of Legrand’s DPC Division.
Rising Needs for Operational Technology
The acquisition’s strategic significance was emphasized by Legrand’s North and Central America President and CEO, John Selldorff. He said, “One of our main areas of concentration is the rapidly expanding and lucrative data center and edge management infrastructure sector. We expect this market to develop faster due to the introduction of artificial intelligence and rising needs for operational technology. The cutting-edge automation infrastructure solutions from ZPE Systems not only enhance our present portfolio but are also essential for meeting the intricate requirements of contemporary edge infrastructures and data centers.”
Arnaldo Zimmermann of ZPE Systems echoed this idea and said, “Joining forces with Legrand positions us to further advance our leadership in management infrastructure.” He also expressed confidence about the future. “Our technology and solutions reach new heights as a result of our partnership, allowing us to take advantage of new market possibilities and satisfy our clients’ changing needs.”
Legrand is taking a significant step forward with this acquisition to broaden its global reach and capabilities in the data center industry, especially in sectors that need cutting-edge remote management and operation solutions. It is anticipated that this action will strengthen Legrand’s position as a complete solutions provider in the dynamic field of data center technology.
