iomart to power Maidenhead DC with on-site solar power

iomart has put in 560 photo voltaic panels at its flagship information centre in Maidenhead, with the aim of powering the positioning with self-sustaining vitality through the summer time.

In line with iomart, the photo voltaic panels will generate round 250,000 kWh of vitality every year on the 2,800 sqm facility, avoiding 96,061kg of CO2 emissions yearly. 

iomart’s Maidenhead information centre is the corporate’s largest within the UK, and is the supplier’s fundamental self-managed infrastructure facility, powering greater than 12,000 servers. 

David Gammie, CTO at iomart, stated, “We’ve got a big portfolio of knowledge centres throughout the UK and ensuring they’re as sustainable as potential is one in every of our greatest focuses at iomart.

“We’ve already dedicated to powering all our information centres with 100% renewable vitality. This set up at Maidenhead takes that dedication one step additional – producing our personal vitality onsite, and as well as the potential to export vitality again into the grid community sooner or later.

“Our Maidenhead information centre is the best location for a mission like this. It has an unlimited roof house, making photo voltaic panels the best resolution.”
