India Leads Asia-Pacific in Data Center Capacity, Surpasses Australia, Japan, and Hong Kong

India has cemented its place as a knowledge heart powerhouse, outpacing key Asia-Pacific contenders like Australia, Hong Kong SAR, Japan, Singapore, and Korea, boasting a commanding capability of 950 MW, excluding China. In line with a latest personal report unveiled by actual property consultancy CBRE, India is poised to additional solidify its lead by anticipating a staggering addition of 850 MW in the course of the span of 2024-2026.

The report underscores India’s burgeoning knowledge heart sector as a primary funding avenue, citing its resilience and potential for profitable returns. Notably, the sector has garnered vital consideration from each world and home traders, with funding commitments exceeding a staggering USD 40 billion between 2018 and 2023.

In 2023 alone, the sector witnessed a notable surge with the addition of 255 MW of recent provide, a considerable leap from the 200 MW recorded in 2022. This progress trajectory is about to persist in 2024, with plans underway to introduce over 330 MW throughout numerous cities. Such enlargement initiatives are anticipated to bolster the whole inventory by roughly 30 per cent yearly, propelling it to round 1,370 MW by year-end.
