US power generator Entergy is concerned that new carbon emission standards, proposed by the US Environmental Agency (EPA) for coal-fired and new gas-fired power plants, may clash with its scheduled retirements of ageing coal power units. Utilities want to avoid having to retrofit costly carbon capture systems at power stations prior to their phase-out date.
