Cologix expands into Iowa market with acquisition of two edge data centers hubs

Cologix expands AWS direct connect footprint at its edge data center in Canada

Cologix has acquired two knowledge middle services in Iowa from Connect Des Moines. DSM2, located within the Cedar Valley area of Cedar Falls, Iowa, spans 12,500 sq. ft and has 1.0 MW of energy. Phrases of the settlement weren’t disclosed.

The corporate claims that the sting facility, positioned alongside key transportation routes, has potential for growth by a further 10,000 sq. ft and is linked to DSM1 through a various fiber ring.

Laura Ortman, CEO of Cologix, expresses enthusiasm concerning the growth, stating: “We’re excited to enter the Des Moines market and convey our industry-leading colocation and interconnection options to companies in Iowa.

“In line with our technique in different markets the place we function, we’re first establishing our presence with the provider resort in our Iowa portfolio. We’ll proceed so as to add Scalelogix and digital edge services to supply a excessive efficiency, low latency and scalable colocation and interconnection platform with entry to our sturdy ecosystem of 700 plus networks, 360 plus cloud suppliers, 30 plus cloud onramps and 7 web exchanges.”

Along with buying the information facilities, Cologix is buying land in Des Moines for future growth.

The acquired knowledge facilities, often known as DSM1 and DSM2, at the moment are a part of the Cologix portfolio. DSM1, positioned downtown at 666 Walnut Avenue, affords 4,000 sq. ft of area and 600kW of energy, with connectivity to over 25 networks and direct entry to the DesMoinesIX web change.

Ortman highlights the growing reliance of corporations on digital infrastructure and the significance of well-supported knowledge facilities, and emphasizes that the Des Moines services will provide companies essential assets to scale their IT infrastructure, improve efficiency, and obtain digital transformation targets.

Presently, Cologix gives carrier- and cloud-neutral hyperscale edge knowledge facilities and companies in 12 markets throughout North America.

Elsewhere, the corporate lately launched darkish fiber connectivity at its edge knowledge middle facility positioned in Silicon Valley.
