Airedale by Modine has introduced the U.S. launch of the Cooling System Optimizer in response to business demand for sustainable, secure and safe cooling programs. First launched in Europe in 2022 and capable of handle chilled water loops of as much as 20MW and past, demand for the Optimizer has grown as knowledge middle suppliers undertake bigger, extra complicated cooling programs.

The Optimizer is an clever controls layer that sits between product controls in chillers and CRAHs and beneath the location constructing administration system (BMS). It’s programmed to unify indoor and out of doors cooling gear to proactively handle the three most vital issues in any knowledge middle cooling system: resilience, redundancy and vitality use. Leveraging the advantages of main ring chilled water cooling programs in addition to remaining appropriate with main/secondary programs, the Optimizer is designed to handle dynamic variable move programs to constantly ship on vital SLAs, on the lowest attainable vitality enter.

Gear outages on account of energy points, community storms and communication losses, are the scourge of many knowledge facilities. The Cooling System Optimizer has been developed with this in thoughts, with built-in capacity to successfully handle gear drop-outs in a a lot faster and environment friendly method than a typical BMS. Residing in customary and confirmed PLC-based controllers, it’s extremely redundant and appropriate with exterior ICT safety networks.

In a latest manufacturing facility acceptance check for a worldwide knowledge middle supplier, the Optimizer was simulated on a 10MW loop comprising 7 chillers and 24 fan partitions, with the shopper’s personal safety community. The shopper was challenged to ‘break’ the system within the methods which can be skilled on dwell websites. Regardless of their decided efforts, they had been unable to disrupt the sturdy performance of the system.

Supply of Optimizer programs within the U.S. shall be managed by a brand new, devoted controls workforce based mostly out of the North America Information Middle headquarters in Rockbridge, VA. Backed by the worldwide controls workforce within the UK, the U.S. workforce will work with product groups to ship software program options for knowledge middle suppliers. These options will ultimately embody all facets of constructing administration, distant monitoring and predictive upkeep.

Reece Thomas, Controls Director at Airedale stated,

“The US is an extremely vital marketplace for us and we’re seeing rising demand for extra clever software program. Airedale controls programs handle over 200MW of information facilities throughout Europe and that’s solely set to develop, with the Optimizer proving extraordinarily standard in bigger knowledge facilities with variable move cooling programs. With a devoted US controls workforce, we are able to assist our native and world clients with the excessive ranges of service we’re famend for.”

Reece continued,

“The Optimizer has been extremely effectively obtained within the business, as many operators wrestle to handle more and more complicated cooling programs with out-of-the-box BMS options. They’re relieved to discover a confirmed sturdy answer that’s appropriate with end-user ICT safety programs, that takes on the duty of preserving cooling programs up and operating whereas preserving vitality payments down.”
